Coronation Street star Bill Roache is being awarded an honorary doctorate. The actor, who plays Ken Barlow in the Manchester-based soap, will receive the honour from the University of Chester.
It is awarded in recognition of his "uniquely sustained contribution" to television. He is the only original Coronation Street star in the soap.
Journalist and broadcaster Joan Bakewell will also receive the honour at a ceremony with 500 other graduates in Chester Cathedral on Friday.
University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tim Wheeler, said: "In Chester, we are fortunate to be able to tap into a rich vein of achievement, talent and philanthropy.
"Bill Roache and Joan Bakewell demonstrate all these attributes magnificently."
