Bail extended in murder inquiry
Shafilea Ahmed
Shafilea was last seen alive in September 2003
Eight people questioned over the disappearance of a Bradford teenager have had their bail extended by police.

Shafilea Ahmed, 17, from Warrington went missing in September 2003. Her body was discovered in the River Kent in Sedgwick, Cumbria, in January 2004.

All eight are relatives of the teenager from Bradford, West Yorks, and were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Cheshire Police said on Tuesday they were due to answer bail in September.

The teenager's disappearance came just months after a family trip to Pakistan during which the 17-year-old drank is said to have drunk bleach in an apparent attempt to avoid an arranged marriage.

Police say all the eight are members of Shafilea's extended family and were arrested in September last year.

Shafilea was last seen alive at her home in Liverpool Road, Great Sankey, on 11 September 2003.
