Murder victim relatives on bail
Shafilea Ahmed

Eight relatives of a murdered teenager who were questioned over her disappearance have been bailed again by police in Cheshire.

Shafilea Ahmed, 17, from Warrington, went missing in September 2003.

Her body was discovered by police in the River Kent in Sedgwick, Cumbria, in January 2004.

A spokesman for Cheshire Constabulary said on Friday that the eight, arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, have been bailed until May.

The teenager's disappearance came just months after a family trip to Pakistan during which the 17-year-old drank bleach in an apparent attempt to avoid an arranged marriage.

The eight, who police say are members of Shafilea's extended family, were arrested in September last year.

Shafilea was last seen alive at her home in Liverpool Road, Great Sankey, on 11 September 2003.
