Westminster City Council has not applied any parking rises since 2006 |
Motorists travelling to parts of central London face increased parking charges, it has been revealed. Westminster City Council said the inflationary price hikes to its seven parking zones were the first rise for five years. Parking in the West End and Soho will increase from £4 an hour to £4.40 an hour between 0830 and 1329 BST. However, motorists parking in those areas between 1330 and 1830 BST will pay a reduced rate of £3.30 an hour. The "dual parking system" is part of a six-month pilot scheme to encourage visitors to one of the borough's busiest areas at times of the day when parking demand is reduced. It could be rolled out across Westminster depending on the success of the scheme. New parking prices for West End
