Jury out in father stoning trial
Ernest Norton
Ernest Norton died from a heart attack
A jury has retired to consider verdicts in the case of five boys accused of killing a pensioner as he played cricket with his teenage son.

Ernest Norton, 67, suffered a fatal heart attack after he was pelted with sticks and stones as he played cricket in Erith, south-east London.

He was struck on the head at least twice in the incident in February 2006, an Old Bailey jury heard.

Five boys, now aged between 12 and 14, deny manslaughter and violent disorder.

They admit being at the scene and some of them admit throwing stones and sticks.

The court was told that none of them had been in trouble with the police before.

The jury has been sent home for the night.
