Castle concerts get the go-ahead
Katherine Jenkins
Katherine Jenkins is due to appear at the castle on 25 August
County council officials have confirmed that three summer concerts planned for Lincoln Castle will go ahead.

A council spokesman said that the Midsummer Magic events, which feature Rock n' Roll and classical artists will go ahead on 25 to 27 August.

Pop band The Feeling were due to play at the castle on 24 July but problems with health and safety paperwork saw the gig postponed.

Officials said the dates would go ahead but said ticket sales had been slow.

'Support needed'

The council's concert organiser Robin Rushton, said: "People weren't sure that the concerts would be on and they have obviously been sitting back waiting.

"The one thing I would say to the general public is that we need their support now. We've got three concerts to go in August and we need everybody to support us."

At the time of the postponement of The Feeling concert, the council explained it had failed to give the required three months' notice to the emergency services.

A second concert by singer Marti Pellow went ahead on 23 July but had to be moved to a different venue.

The authority said paperwork was now in order.
