Women's refuge 'needs to expand'
Organisers of a women's refuge in Lincoln say twice as many victims of domestic violence will benefit if their expansion plans go ahead.

The Women's Aid charity wants to build a 1.7m refuge but needs an additional 100,000 to pay for the expansion.

Claire Morrison, from Lincoln's Women's Aid centre, said: "We need to move because we only have six family rooms - and we need more."

She said the current refuge in a former house, was not fit for the purpose.

The planned refuge would have 11 bedrooms instead of the current six - nine for women with children and two for women without children.

"The current refuge has a fourth floor that is not suitable for wheelchair users - which is one reason why we want to build a new refuge," she said.

Mrs Morrison added that the charity was appealing to businesses and other organisations to donate to the appeal.
