Emergency homeless shelter set up
Severe weather conditions could see homeless people in Lincolnshire put up in emergency accommodation.

Two weeks ago staff at Boston homeless charity Centrepoint Outreach warned that someone could die sleeping rough in wintry conditions.

The government wants councils to have emergency shelter on standby should the temperature be forecast to fall below zero on three consecutive nights.

But the authorities are under no legal obligation to provide such help.

Boston Borough Council and South Holland District Council said they have dedicated emergency accommodation set aside in the light of the new government advice.

Other authorities in Lincolnshire said set procedures are in place to handle emergency cases of rough sleepers and referrals to homeless organisations in difficult weather conditions.
