Trust to shut its homeless centre
A day centre for homeless people in Lincoln is closing down because of a shortage of funding.

The Nomad Trust's day centre in Free School Lane has provided assistance for people living on the streets for more than 22 years.

Hot meals will be offered at lunchtime at the Trust's night shelter in Monks Road after the day centre closes.

Andy Tysoe, manager of the Nomad Trust, said the centre had been underfunded for many years.

Night shelter

"The trust has had to draw on its reserves to keep the place open over the past 12 to 18 months.

"If we did not make a decision now then we would literally run out of cash in the next 18 months," Mr Tysoe said.

He said the trust would focus on its night shelter to make sure that facility remained open in the long-term.

"We have to make that decision before it becomes a crisis."

Volunteer Irene said: "We hope people will come forward to help the centre.

"There are lovely warm genuine people who use this service - it has become a second home for a lot of people."
