Ecotricity will to build 20 wind turbines near Louth |
Controversial plans for what will be the largest wind farm in Lincolnshire have been approved. Dozens of people had objected to Ecotricity's proposals to build 20 turbines at Conisholme Fen near Louth.
East Lindsey District Council rejected the plans last year, despite officers advising them to give approval.
But is has now agreed to the farm after Ecotricity argued it had gone against the advice of its own policies, planning officers and consultants.
More than 170 residents wrote letters expressing fears over noise, proximity to an area of natural beauty and a possible impact on house prices.
Some councillors had argued the project was "completely unsuitable" for the area and would ruin views of the Wolds.
