Collections see recycling surge
More than 8,000 tonnes of household waste has been recycled by people in an area of Lincolnshire this year, beating the government's annual target.

The district council says it is delighted that 24% of rubbish produced in homes has been recycled.

Collections in East Lindsey have risen 5% above the specified government guidelines.

Officials are urging people to carry on the good work over Christmas when homes produce more rubbish than usual.

They are urging householders to remember that wine bottles, beer cans, Christmas trees and wrapping paper can all be recycled.
