Kerbside recycling in Lincoln is being given a significant overhaul. A new system has been launched which involves two vehicles - one looking for all recyclable material and the other serving as a normal bin lorry.
It is hoped this will solve the problem some residents had in knowing what materials to put in dedicated black recycling boxes.
The crews will take anything recyclable eve, apart from hazardous material like glass.
With the previous system only material in the black boxes would be considered for recycling.
But many found it difficult to judge whether something is recyclable or not.
Many people had their recycling box left unemptied because the wrong material has been left in it.
Barrie Billinghay, Environmental Promotions Officer said: "We really do rely on the public's efforts in increasing the amount we recycle.
"We hope that they will agree that the new service is an improved one and that as many people as possible will continue to recycle."
The county must to recycle 30% of all household waste by 2010.
Government figures show Lincolnshire currently only performs moderately well when it comes to recycling, compared to other rural counties.
