'Bracing' resort could get revamp
Jolly Fisherman
Skegness is a home to the jolly fisherman
Proposals for a new sports resort dedicated to the over-50s and a Las Vegas style casino are being debated by councillors in Lincolnshire.

The plans for Skegness involve the transformation of the Southern Foreshore in an attempt to get people to visit all year round.

If approved, the buildings would transform the area, which was originally built in the 1930s.

The resort has been a popular seaside retreat for families for many decades.

Jeremy Webb, chairman of East Lindsey District Council executive board, said the council wants to make improvements while maintaining some of the original character.

He said: "When we look at the whole area we're going to look at the total and what portion should we use to retain the traditional feel and charm.

"There are a lot of people who come to Skegness and they want a variety of options.

"They don't all want noisy, commercial and expensive."
