Local residents say they are angry at a council's plans to close two paddling pools in Lincolnshire. East Lindsey District Council has decided to close the Fairy Dell and Sunshine pools in Skegness because they are rundown and outdated.
It plans to replace them with a new water playground on the seafront costing 250,000.
Campaigners say they have not been consulted about the changes and there was nothing wrong with the pools.
Water standards
They were closed in September following fears over water quality.
Steve Kirk, a councillor with Skegness Town Council who oppose the plans, said: "There has been problems with water quality for many, many years I believe on this occasion it was just an excuse that was used to close them so they can be bulldozed and redeveloped.
"I'm a little bit confused really, we've had two messages coming out of East Lindsey.
"One of them said that no decision has been made and that one will be made in December following consultation and that a quarter of million had been put aside for a feature.
"The other said the pools were definitely closing."
A spokesperson for East Lindsey District Council has assured residents and holidaymakers the new facility will be much better than the paddling pools.
