Brad (r) and Jennifer are recovering well |
Two seal pups rescued from beaches in Lincolnshire have been named after Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. The pups were probably separated from their mothers by storms in The Wash, and are being cared for at Natureland Seal Sanctuary, in Skegness.
Many more pups are expected to be found in the next week because bad weather has coincided with the birthing season.
Richard Yeadon, from Natureland, said Brad and Jennifer had been lucky.
He said: "Brad was found three weeks ago when he was one day old.
And you thought the seals were cute? |
"It was touch and go whether he would make it through the (first) night."
Jennifer is currently recovering from an eye infection.
Mr Yeadon said: "There is still a long way to go for her, but we had her outside in salt water for the first time today (Saturday)."
Brad and Jennifer are being fed fish and, if their recovery continues, they should be released in September.
Each year Natureland chooses a different theme to name its rescued seals.
In previous years they have been named after Wimbledon stars, Coronation Street characters and herbs.
This year's theme of Hollywood stars was chosen by staff, Mr Yeadon said.
