Wildlife experts are warning recent bad weather will lead to a higher number of Seal pups being abandoned on the Lincolnshire coast. Staff at Natureland in Skegness say storms will have caused pups to become separated from their mothers at sea.
They are bracing themselves for an influx over the next few weeks as they make their way ashore.
It comes after the seal population suffered losses in 2003 due to an outbreak of distemper virus.
Duncan Yeadon from Natureland said: "They're not as strong as a fully grown seal and it's easy for them to get separated from Mum.
"When the weather dies down they're looking around for Mum and are unable to find her.
"They're suckling from her milk and over the next few days if they're unable to feed then they're going to be getting weaker and weaker."
