It is the first time a seal has escaped from the sanctuary |
Quincy, the runaway seal, has been found safe and well. The five-month-old grey seal pup is thought to have escaped from the Natureland Seal Sanctuary in Skegness by wriggling under a back gate.
Quincy had been on the loose since Monday. Staff have now rescued him from a nearby waterway and he is back at the sanctuary.
It is the first time in the sanctuary's 40-year history that a seal has escaped.
Richard Yeadon from the centre said: "We've just put him back in the pool with the others and he's having a real tear around - he's quite relieved to be back I think.
"When you look at the route he must've taken, he's had quite an adventure really."
