Inquiry into new wind farm opens
A public inquiry into what could be one of the largest onshore wind farms in the East Midlands has started.

The issue of the 20 turbine facility at Orby Marsh, Lincolnshire has provoked huge debate among those living nearby.

East Lindsey District Council went against the recommendations of its own officers in turning down the plans in June 2003.

The hearing, which opened on Tuesday at Hogsthorpe Village Hall, is expected to last 10 days.

About 20 members of the public attended the first day, some wearing "Yes to Orby Wind Farm" badges, others holding placards opposing the plans.

The scheme has gone to an inquiry as local farmer Mark Cauldwell, who is backing the scheme, appealed against the council's refusal.
