Fine threat for litter houses
Residents in Gainsborough are being told the town has become a major health hazard.

West Lindsey District Council says they will fine people who leave their household rubbish out on the streets too early.

Previous warnings from the district council, not to leave rubbish bags out until the day of collection, have been ignored by residents living in three streets off Trinity Avenue in the town.

Environmental officers say domestic waste is becoming a health hazard as well as costing thousands of pounds each year to clear up.

Fly-tippers have also begun to use the area.

From now on, any rubbish left out will be searched for names and addresses and culprits could be fined or prosecuted.
