Shopping centre to get new name
Shire shopping centre
The Shires project will be finished in 2008
A shopping centre undergoing a 350m re-development is to be given a new name when it re-opens in 2008.

Managers of development company Hammerson have revealed the Shires centre in Leicester, will be known as the Highcross Quarter.

They believe the new name reflects the heritage and aspirational quality of the development and its location within the city.

When asked about the new name, four out of five people gave it the thumbs up.

When the project is completed, the new development will include more than 120 shops as well as cafes, restaurants, a multiplex cinema and 180 modern city living apartments.
