Fake goods worth 4.3m have been seized at the airport
Customs officers at Nottingham East Midlands Airport have seized record amounts of counterfeit goods this year.

The airport, the biggest air freight depot in the UK, has won an award for its fight against fakes.

Customs officers at the airport have seized 4.3m of counterfeit goods - with 70% of them from China.

The Anti-Counterfeiting Group has given its annual award for fighting counterfeit goods to customs officers at the airport.

John MacMillan HM Customs and Revenue said: "It is affecting legitimate trade and we are working closely with major companies to detain and seize these goods so their business doesn't suffer."

The customs officers look for labelling and quality for signs of fake goods.

Fake goods account for between 7% and 9% of total world trade, according to customs figures.
