Owners of Nottingham East Midlands Airport (NEMA) are facing criticism over plans to expand the site. Officials at Harborough District Council complained the move would lead to almost 400 more flights a day over the area.
They also questioned how the airport could regulate aircraft noise levels over local homes.
An airport spokesman said NEMA welcomed all responses and a final plan would be published later this year.
Plans for the airport's future have been on show around Leicestershire since February.
Officials from Harborough District Council said they were also concerned jobs created at the site would be low-skill and low-wage - and criticised this as being inconsistent with government plans for more high skill jobs.
