A major new campaign is being launched to reduce the number of motorcyclists killed on roads in the East Midlands. Department of Transport research shows that the majority of fatal crashes in the region involving bikers happen at road junctions.
In 2005, a total of 51 motorcyclists were killed and 526 seriously injured in the region.
A poster campaign is warning car drivers to check their mirror's "'blind spot" before pulling out.

Researchers claim many motorists fail to make proper checks before pulling out at junctions - but add that bikers would be visible if motorists look around.
Leicestershire police Pc Nick Bryan said: "In the busy traffic, it is easy for drivers to fail to spot motorcyclists.
"Especially when pulling out at a junction, drivers need to look and look again for bikers."
Motorcyclists are reminded they must do all they can to make sure they can be seen.
The poster campaign will run from 30 January to 12 March.
