Safety warning over mini-moto use
Miniature motorcycle
Mini-motos are expected to make popular Christmas presents
Many people who buy mini motorcycles are unaware of the laws surrounding their use, police in Lancashire say.

The machines can reach speeds of up to 60mph and at least five people have been killed in accidents in the UK so far this year.

The bikes can only be used on private land, unless the rider has a driving licence, tax and insurance.

Motorised toys are expected to be popular presents this year but police are warning parents to learn the risks.

Police say they can confiscate a bike if complaints about riders are logged.

Police must first issue a warning and notice, but if misuse of the vehicles continues the bike may then be taken away.
