Leicester planning major clean-up
Time for a multi-million clean up in Leicester?
Leicester city centre could be in line for a 53m clean-up project over the next three years.

The city council scheme includes a 10m contribution towards projects that will run alongside the extension of the Shires shopping centre.

It would also pay for the transformation of the St George's area into a cultural quarter.

The programme would involve more CCTV cameras and improvements to untidy areas of land, verges and footpaths.

The council has unveiled its corporate capital programme, which sets out investments in the coming years.

Councillors will get the chance to vote on the proposals at a full council meeting next Thursday.
