Railway team hails bright future
Great Central Railway
The attraction has been running for more than 30 years
Managers of the Great Central Railway say they are looking forward to a positive future.

Last July the Loughborough steam railway said financial constraints meant it would have to make some of the 35 paid staff redundant.

A review also said it must improve the promotion of the Leicestershire railway to help the attraction pay its way.

But organisers say the reorganisation will allow the centre to make the most of its facilities.

"It has, in the end, been a very good year, with a reorganisation and restructuring put in place," Great Central Railway managing director Graham Oliver said.

"We have an excellent management team here, we have a superb fleet of locomotives with six main-line trains - we have never seen as many as that before - which are being superbly looked after.

"So I'm very happy with what has happened at the Great Central Railway."
