Railway trespassers get warning
Train
People have been seen walking their dogs by the track
Managers at Leicestershire's Great Central Railway Line are warning both adults and children to keep away from the track this summer.

The Loughborough-based company has paid out 300,000 this year to try to tackle the problem of trespassers.

People living alongside the railway line are being asked to call the police if they see any vandalism or theft.

People who ignored the warning were putting their lives and the lives of others at risk, the company said.

Spokesman Mike Leigh said: "A steam engine with a train behind it on the Great Central can hit you just as hard, if not even harder, sadly, than one on the main line can, so please don't trespass.

"We do occasionally get people who like to think it's a good idea to walk dogs along our railway line - please don't."
