M1 works may disrupt city traffic
Drivers in Leicester could be facing months of delays because of major roadworks on a stretch of the motorway near the city.

The M1 between Cosby and Leicester Forest East will be affected for five months with traffic limited to 40mph.

The Highways Agency says there will be lane and slip-road closures and lower speed limits from 1 July.

Various lanes will be closed but traffic will be able to use other carriageways and the hard shoulder.

The slip roads at junction 21 will sometimes be shut at night, as will the road linking the M69 with that junction.

Some wide vehicles will not be able to use the stretch of motorway but emergency vehicles will not face any restrictions.
