Flight path delay 'a PR exercise'
Edward Garnier
Mr Garnier said he believed nothing will change
An MP has criticised a decision by Nottingham East Midlands Airport to delay a change to its flight path.

Edward Garnier, MP for Harborough in Leicestershire, said a decision by airport managers to carry out further consultation could be a PR exercise.

The flight path change, which will affect homes in East Leicestershire, was approved by the Civil Aviation Authority last month.

Mr Garnier said he did not think the review would change any plans.

Game not over

Mr Garnier said: "I suspect that what will happen is that they will now send out formal consultation papers to the people didn't bother to consult last time but that the Civil Aviation Authority will come up with exactly the same decision.

"But that doesn't mean to say that I and those who think like me should simply thrown up our hands and say the game is over."

The new flight path plan has met with opposition from people living underneath it.

Airport managers had welcomed the decision allowing them to move the flight path as they said aircraft would be higher and affect 75% fewer people.
