Villagers angry over flight path
Campaigners against a new flight path over the East Midlands say they are devastated it has been approved.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has allowed Nottingham East Midlands Airport to extend its airspace across the east of Leicestershire.

Residents in Sileby, Thrussington and Walton are concerned the flight path will lead to more noise in the area.

Steve Charlish, the organiser of East Leicestershire Villages Against Airspace, said he is disappointed.

"We always anticipated they would implement the airspace.

"On such a limited consultation it was definite that the government were motivated behind (the airport) and the CAA."

Nottingham East Midlands Airport said it welcomes the decision and that aircraft will now be quieter, fly higher and affect 75% fewer people.
