Designer's illuminating creation
Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen
The illuminations will be positioned next to Blackpool Tower
Designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen is to unveil his illumination creation for Blackpool's promenade.

Last year the TV designer added a kick to the display with his Decodance showgirls who lit up the promenade near the tower.

He says his designs this year will not disappoint: "It'll be dead classy, very elegant but with a nightclubby feel."

The man famed for his lavish style adds: "I want it to look like something you might see in a festive film."

"The fact that there's going to be a 15 minute show will hopefully draw the crowds and get people out of their cars to enjoy the whole magic we're creating."

Winning design

Laurence will be unveiling his designs for the first time on Monday at the illuminations depot.

He will also be revealing the winning design after a nationwide competition to design a section of Blackpool illuminations.

The three shortlisted designs are Cocktail by Elliot Harrison, from Chester , Local Heads by Andy McKeown, of Shrewsbury, and Lunar Moth by Gaslight by Pip Dickens, of Leeds.

The winning designer will be at the illuminations depot to meet Laurence on Monday.
