Laser beamed from Blackpool Tower
Laser beams on top of Blackpool Tower
The lasers form part of the Festival of Light
A laser that will be visible from 30 miles (48km) away has been beamed from Blackpool's most famous landmark.

Organisers of the annual Festival of Light say the laser projected from the resort's tower is the UK's largest.

The traditional Blackpool Illuminations form part of the festival, which also incorporates art installations and some permanent seaside displays.

The solid-green laser was tested on Wednesday evening and will shine across the night sky each night from Friday.

The Tower Laser, which was specifically produced for Blackpool, projects vivid beams and patterns in a 360-degree rotation.

The laser will appear in the skies above the seaside resort for ten minutes each night during the rest of the town's Illuminations season.

A section of this year's attractions have been designed by Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.
