Revellers are being warned about the dangers of using unlicensed cabs over the Christmas and New Year period. Thanet District Council's Licensing team are urging everyone to check that a driver's badge is being displayed.
It is stressing the badge is a legal requirement, and should show the driver's photo, number and expiry date.
Cllr Ingrid Spencer said: "If there's no badge displayed, then the message we want to give local people is not to take the risk. It's not worth it."
The badges indicate that a driver is properly licensed and that a series of background checks have been carried out, including police checks.
