A Leamington Spa-based taxi company which transported children to school in cars driven by unlicensed drivers has been fined nearly �2,000. Ajit Satsavia, the owner of Markhams/Avon Knight Taxis, also admitted using cars without insurance or an MOT.
The offences came to light after spot checks by Warwick District Council.
Satsavia, of Russell Terrace, Leamington, was also disqualified from driving for six months.
Leamington Magistrates Court heard the offences, included using drivers who did not have a hackney carriage licence, no insurance or MOT, and driving vehicles that were in a dangerous condition.
The offences were uncovered after spot checks by Warwick District Council's licensing enforcement officer on vehicles owned by Satsavia's company and based in the town's High Street.
At the time, the court heard, the vehicles were being used under contract to take children to Ridgeway school in Warwick and Welcombe school in Stratford.
