Crackdown on unlicensed cab trade
A police crackdown targeting the unlicensed taxi trade in Dartford has led to nine taxi drivers being investigated for benefit fraud.

Two people are also being investigated by the Immigration Department and three people were found to be driving without an appropriate licence on 25 November.

Department for Work and Pensions staff were working alongside Kent Police.

The aim was to tackle benefit fraud activity and unroadworthy vehicles, a spokesman said.

"The Department for Work and Pensions, in partnership with local authorities, is taking action against more fraudsters than ever," Chris Pond, Gravesham's Labour MP, said.

Mr Pond, the Department's anti-fraud minister, said that investigations were now more thorough than ever.
