Hospital's ban on virus victims
Hull Royal Infirmary
Visiting hours are being restricted at Hull Royal Infirmary.
Health bosses are urging people with diarrhoea and vomiting not to seek treatment at Hull Royal Infirmary.

More than 400 patients and staff at the infirmary and at Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham have been suffering from illness caused by the Noro virus.

Officials say that people in the Hull area who have the same virus should not risk bringing it into hospitals.

Anyone suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting should contact a GP, not the accident and emergency department.

Since the start of the week there has been an increase in the number of patients with the virus coming to the infirmary, leading to the appeal for them to stay away.

At one time 24 wards at the two hospitals were closed because of the outbreak.

This is now down to three but visiting hours are still restricted and gifts such as fruit and flowers are still banned.
