Visiting hours are being restricted at Hull Royal Infirmary.

More than 370 people have been hit by the Noro virus at Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham.

Hospital bosses closed a total of 23 wards following the outbreak last week, though five have now re-opened.

Although 11 more staff and patients were diagnosed on Wednesday, the new cases were restricted to five wards.

Thorough clean

Medical director Dr David Hepburn said: "Eleven wards this morning have no new cases in either patients or staff and we are hoping to open more wards this afternoon."

In most of the 372 cases, patients and staff were now recovering or had recovered from the virus, he added.

The hospital underwent a thorough cleaning over the weekend and visiting is being limited to two hours a day in a bid to contain the virus.

People are also banned from bringing fruit and flowers and are being asked to wash their hands before and after every visit.
