Plans to close a Worcestershire school are to be reconsidered by councillors. Worcestershire County Council said in July it would close Lickhill Primary School in Stourport-on-Severn because the building was unsuitable. But the council's overview and scrutiny steering committee has called on the cabinet to look again at its decision and examine a number of issues. A council consultation had found that 535 people were against closing the school, while 53 were in favour. Under the plans, pupils would move to nearby Stourport Primary, where new buildings would be built. However, parents have said council chiefs ignored the strength of public support for Lickhill Primary School, with some saying they feared youngsters' education could suffer in a larger school. The matter was called in to be looked at by the committee, following concerns raised by opposition councillors, a spokesman for the county council said. He said the issue was referred back to the cabinet following a five-and-a-half hour meeting by the committee on Tuesday.
