The travellers bought the land in Eckington |
A group of travellers evicted from their own land in Worcestershire are taking their case to the High Court. The families were issued with an eviction notice by the council in April after developing land in Eckington without planning permission.
In response they set up camp within a few yards of Wychavon District Council's offices.
An appeal to be allowed to return to their own land is due to be heard in the High Court on Friday.
Bishop support
The council said the group had breached planning control, and development works had been carried out without planning permission.
About 10 families moved to the Civic Centre car park on Station Road in Pershore at the end of April after they were evicted from Eckington.
Wychavon District Council launched legal proceedings to recover possession of the car park.
The travellers gained the support of the Bishop of Worcester The Rt Rev Dr Peter Selby who urged the council to "recognise the needs of minorities".
