Mr Diallo will wear his caliper during the epic journey |
A man who lost the use of a leg to polio is embarking on an epic ride from Lands End to John O'Groats and back. Boureima Diallo hopes to raise money for the Fulani Ministries, a charity which runs projects in Africa including well-digging and community radio.
The 32-year-old, from Christchurch in Dorset, sets off on Monday and hopes to complete the 1,000-mile journey to Scotland in two weeks.
If he arrives in time, he hopes to cycle all the way back again.
Mr Diallo, who is a preacher with the Fulani Ministries and a part-time tutor at Bournemouth and Poole College, has been training by cycling the 26-mile round trip to work.

He has worn a caliper on one leg since losing the use of it when he was three and will wear it during the gruelling ride.
The money he raises will help fund schools and the building of a new polytechnic in Burkina Faso and a community radio station in Benin, among other projects.
He told BBC News Online: "Even though I am disabled, I can help people improve their lives.
"And as a Christian, I believe this is a way for me to display God's love."
"Able-bodied people usually take two weeks to do this journey, so I am setting that as a target, but I think it might take me up to 18 days.
"If a miracle happens and I arrive early I will attempt to cycle all the way back.
"If not, I'll wrap up my cycle and get the coach back."
