Fire crews were called to pump out flooded homes in Lydney |
Heavy rain overnight caused pockets of flooding on roads across Gloucestershire. Motorists were warned of problems on the A48 near Lydney, at Staverton village and at the bridge under St Oswald's Road in Gloucester. Council highways chiefs said teams had worked through the night to clear drains to try to stop flooding. Weather experts said in the last few days the county had had more than the expected rainfall for all of September. On Thursday, fire crews and council workers were called to homes in Lydney's Lakeside Avenue following flash flooding. And Robinswood Primary in Gloucester has been closed due to the bad weather. "We're very well prepared for it at the moment, but fortunately, we have not seen thus far anything like the levels of rain of last year," said Jason Humm from Gloucestershire Highways.
