Work will concentrate on clearing overgrown trees |
Work to clear a brook in Gloucester can go ahead now that the bird-nesting season has ended. The flood prevention clearance work at Daniel's Brook in Tuffley could take 12 weeks depending on the level of growth the contractors find on site. The clearance schedule has been planned to prevent any harm to local wildlife and will concentrate on clearing overgrown trees. The work is part of a flood management plan with the Environment Agency. Councillor Steve Morgan, of Gloucester City Council, said: "This important scheme has been in the pipeline for many months and now that the nesting season is over, the work can finally begin. "The detailed schedule of works has been devised in conjunction with the Environment Agency over a long period of time, and is part of a much more detailed ongoing flood management plan, which is being drawn up in conjunction with partner agencies."
