Airbase poised for extra aircraft
RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire is preparing to take over the operations of the UK's biggest air base.

RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire is transferring its flights to Fairford while its runway is resurfaced.

Huge Tristars, VC10s and C17s will start flying out from the Gloucestershire airbase on Monday.

The planes will be carrying troops and running air-to-air refuelling operations. The final few aircraft will arrive at Fairford on Friday.

People living nearby have been warned to expect extra air traffic for the next four months, although measures are being taken to reduce the amount of noise.
