A temporary stand was proposed for the Kingsholm ground |
A decision on a proposed temporary stand at Gloucester Rugby Club has been delayed for a month by the city's planners. The club has to increase the capacity of its Kingsholm ground to meet league requirements - or could be relegated.
The proposals for a temporary stand were welcomed by city council planners as a positive step forward.
But there were major concerns on the impact on traffic and parking and the decision has been delayed until June.
Changes had been made to the original plans to reduce the height of the stand and to make it more sympathetic to the surroundings.
But, although the temporary stand will provide seating for an extra 1,300 rugby fans, no provision for extra parking has been made.
According to the council 5,000 spaces are needed by travelling fans - but the club only provides around 500.
A planned 6m redevelopment of the Kingsholm ground, due to take place this summer, was delayed by the club in December.
