Casino scheme backed by cabinet

An application for a casino licence must be submitted next month
Moves to develop a major casino in a resort town have won the backing of council bosses.

A meeting of Bournemouth Borough Council's cabinet has agreed it should apply for one of the eight large casino licences on offer from the government.

The decision must now be endorsed by the full council on 28 February.

It is claimed the 150-machine casino will bring with it a jobs boost as well as providing a much-needed wet-weather entertainment facility for the town.

An application for a licence has to be submitted by the end of March.
