Big screen opens in city centre
Plymouth city centre big screen
The big screen will show Wimbledon and local films
A new big screen, set up in Plymouth city centre to show the tennis during Wimbledon fortnight, has been officially switched on.

Plymouth's own "Centre Court" has been created in the Armada Way Piazza.

The screen will also show a variety of films produced by local community groups and other organisations, along with music events.

The event is a partnership between the city council, the City Centre Company, the BBC and sponsors Wrigley's.

A Henman's Hill has been created, complete with artificial grass and strawberries and cream, so that people can get a real flavour of Wimbledon.

Councillor Sue Dann said: "When people come in shopping it's not actually just to come in shopping it's actually to come in and enjoy everything Plymouth can offer and on a day like this and with weather like this why not?"
