The rink will be able to hold up to 130 skaters at a time |
Shoppers in Plymouth are being urged to get their skates on this Christmas. A large temporary outdoor ice rink is to be constructed in Armada Way and will be in place for six weeks from 18 November to 2 January.
The 450 sq/m rink, believed to be the largest outdoor rink ever seen in the Westcountry, will feature real ice created by powerful chillers.
Councillor Tudor Evans, Leader of the Council, said: "We hope it will be a real draw to the city."
He added: "There's been some disruption over the last year for traders and shoppers so I'm particularly pleased that we are able to provide an attraction that no other town or city in the region can rival."
There will be eight one-hour sessions a day as well as some evening sessions, which will cost 5 per hour for adults.
The facility will hold up to 130 skaters at a time.
