Geller calls for board to resign

The board of Exeter City has revealed Uri Geller will no longer continue in his unofficial role at the club.

He was made co-chairman at the end of last season when chairman John Russell and vice chairman Mike Lewis took over.

It emerged at the end of March that the psychic and spoon-bender was never an official member of the board, as he did not register himself with Companies House and the Football League.

In a statement to BBC Devon, Mr Geller said he now "totally disassociated himself from Russell and Lewis" but would "support the club forever".

Resignation call

Mr Geller has called on Mr Lewis and Mr Russell to resign, saying "they're not the right people to run the club".

John Russell said the board had asked Uri Geller to cut his ties with the club.

"We asked him to vacate the club," said Mr Russell.

"Certain things have happened this week which I won't comment on and we took the decision to ask Uri not to carry on.

"It's a shame. I think a lot about Uri and his family, and we wish them all the best."

Mr Russell and Mr Lewis are now the only directors at the club, following the recent resignations of six directors in the wake of an FA probe into the club's finances.

The club currently has debts of around 2m and was recently relegated to the Conference League.
