Darth Vader
Darth Vader: Bringing "positive power" to Exeter FC
Darth Vader is set to become an honorary director of third division Exeter City.

British strongman David Prowse, who played the arch villain in the first Star Wars trilogy, was recruited by co-chairman and friend Uri Geller.

He will join pop superstar Michael Jackson and US magician David Blaine on Exeter's board of honorary directors, subject to the board's approval.

"He's a positive power now," said Mr Geller.

"There is a psychological value... you can imagine when the players of an opposition team go out knowing that Darth Vader is watching them."

The offer was made after Mr Geller brought his friend to a match at the club, currently hovering just above the relegation zone.

"He fell in love with the club," said Mr Geller.

"There's something about Exeter City that's inexplicable... it has a positive power."

Exeter's co-chairman John Russell, said: "It was a complete surprise when he first turned up with Uri.

"I am a Star Wars fan and always have been."

'Full gear'

Mr Prowse, 67, a former Mr Universe contestant, is still popular at science fiction conventions for his role as Darth Vader.

He is also well-known as the Green Cross Code Man for his appearances in the public information films.

He will be at Saturday's away match against Macclesfield Town, but not as Darth Vader.

Mr Geller said: "One day I'm going to try to convince him to come on to the pitch in the full gear."
