 Only a handful of trains ran during last week's strike |
Midland Mainline rail service was disrupted for the second time in a week as train drivers staged a 24-hour strike in a pensions dispute. No trains were scheduled from Leeds, Wakefield Westgate, Sheffield, Luton, Chesterfield or Nottingham on Thursday, the second of six planned strike days.
Only five trains ran between Derby and St Pancras, with another five going in the opposite direction.
Other train operators accepted Midland Mainline tickets.
The Derby-based company said it would give refunds to passengers who decided not to travel because of the disruption.
Alternatively passengers with tickets booked for Thursday were allowed to travel on Friday.
The train drivers' union Aslef said the row centred on disagreements over pension provisions after a pay deal agreed in 2001.
Further action is planned on the following four Thursdays.
